Summer 2016 update

  • Preschool Graduation took place on Friday 17th June, 8 children graduated from Preschool. 6 will start Liscarroll NS in September and 2 will start in Churchtown NS. We wish them all the very best as they head off to Primary School and we know that they have all become confident & competent learners! Many of them will return as After Schoolers in September.
  • Preschool tour to Little Rascals took place on 26th A busload of very excited Preschoolers (and staff!) headed off on a big Mallow Coaches bus to Little Rascals in Mallow. Here we enjoyed 2 hours of play in the soft play centre and enjoyed a hot lunch before returning to crèche tired but happy! A great day out had by all.
  • In May we had our Healthy Ireland Smart Start assessment. This involved the preparation of a portfolio of all the work that was done all year on this programme as well as an assessment by an external assessor. All the hard work paid off and Teach na nOige have been put forward for the Healthy Ireland Smart Start Award. This programme involved a lot of work incorporating Nutrition, Physical Activity, Oral Health, Health & Safety, Health Promotion & Emotional Well being into our curriculum. Well done to the Preschool staff who put so much into this programme and to the parents for your support in following up this work at home. Healthy Ireland will be a big part of our curriculum going forward.
  • We go outside every day so please supply everything your child will need to cope with the unpredictable Irish weather! Also, please ensure a full set of spares is supplied for your child. Please label all items.
  • Reminder re Healthy Eating Policy: Fruit/Veg or low sugar yoghurt only for morning snack please. All children must adhere to this policy from September 2016. It is recommended by the HSE that children use a beaker rather than a bottle after the age of 12 months.
  • From 29th August 2016, Teach na nOige will be a cash free building. This is for security and governance reasons. Cash fees will no longer be accepted. Payment can be made by cheque / direct debit / internet banking. Please contact the office for the bank details to set up your account in time if you have not already done so.
  • We are no longer accepting clothes collections for recycling. It has become increasingly difficult to get companies to collect/pay for collections. Any other fundraising ideas would be most welcome!
